URL New 3 in 1 Search Engine on the Block

by SEO Dance

URL search engine logo John Stephen Anderson, Jr. from ClipClip started sending me emails suggesting that I try URL, a 3 in 1 search engine that shows the SERP’s of the three major search engines, Google, Yahoo!, and MSN.

According to John, URL.com is a collaborative search engine that has a chance of becoming a REALLY influential search engine, where you can “search with many? and “never search alone?.

Queried a bit on how are things going with URL.com’s Beta campaign and voila:

What company is URL.com under?

JSA: Right now we’re calling the “parent company? CoolChaser – though we’re not yet fully formed yet.

What services does URL.com offer? What is its uniqueness or benefits that other search engines do not offer?

JSA: We offer two things 1- a better metasearch - results from top search sites and ranked based on user input and 2- search social networking, where you can search with a community of people and connect with people who search like you.

Do you collaborate with MSN, Yahoo and Google?

JSA: URL.com uses an ajax platform that leverages their API’s

What do you think is URL.com’s weaknesses? How do you plan to work on them?

JSA: URL is still a very much an experiment. We’re learning about how search is collaborative experience. So there’s LOTS to work on. Two things that keep me up at night are 1- building the community and 2- empowering that community. To build the community, we need to convince people that it’s worth using something besides Google. And often it takes a few searches before people really realize the benefits of our site. To empower the community means expanding our platform to give people a bigger voice, and a better way to connect with each other around search. Any ideas?

Anyone would like to share their 2 cents regarding URL.com’s efficiency as a 3 in 1 search engine?

I don’t really digg it. It’s slow to load. And for some reason, it loads up my Java 2 runtime.

Google, Yahoo, and MSN load up in way faster time.

  2. Alfa Says:

    Hi,

Your URL.com bad experience will reach JSA.

Hope the CoolChaser folks will do something about it soon.

    Thanks for visiting!
