Real Top Search Engines

by

After that hoaxy search engines post, I finally got to find the real list of top search engines. All 100 of them as discovered from John Battelle’s Searchblog.

Of course, Google, Yahoo!Search, MSN Live Search, Ask.com, Digg and Technorati made it to the top according to their prominence on cloud. But I’m sad that Dogpile.com didn’t make it.

This list of top search engines though does not include what measure was used to come up with this list.

See all of the Top 100 search engines.

Update: Charles Knight compiled this list of search engines and ranked them according to his own experience in using them and features he found interesting.

Good morning! The list of the Top 100 Search Engines that you mention is my creation. I hate to disappoint, but *I* was the criteria!
If I thought a particular SE was new (or had new features) and interesting, I included it.

Please Note: There is no program that can *discover* and evaluate alternative search engines. Machines do not use Search Engines, people do. It took me a long time to investigate each and every one of 110+ Search Engines on the list.

Having said all that, I have been blessed with good feedback, which I shall use to revise the list. Also, as you know, new SEs are popping almost daily, and it’s very hard to keep up! (My list has some of the latest ones); and I promise to revisit Dogpile!

If you would like a copy of the current list, just send me an email at: Charles@CharlesKnightSEO.com.

    P. S. What hoaxy search engines post? Thanks!

    Charles,

I’ve updated this post to give you the credit you deserve. Sorry for that.

I understand your point regarding the criteria on which search engines should make it to the list. And no it didn’t disappoint me at all.

Regarding the hoaxy search engines post, you should have followed the link. Hehe.

    Thanks for the clarifications! :D
