SEO Sued for Making Ex-Client Competitor Rank Higher
Sunday, November 19th, 2006
Here’s an interesting SEO profession conundrum, experienced by an anonymous who was just doing what he has to do - his SEO job.
I am caught between a rock and a hard place so it seems. Apparently I am being sued by a previous client because I have performed SEO duties for their competitor(s) and given them higher listings on SERPs that my previous client used to dominate. They’re now somewhere near ~20 with competitors “taking away their business” up on ~3-15 spots. They seem to feel that these higher results were their’s by right or something.
The thing is this SEO guy always requires his clients to sign a non-compete so working with his clients’ competitors won’t be a trouble. He asked for advice on how to work his way out of this problem. And he got what he asked for, solid professional advice, which flooded his comments section.
