Anti-Duplicate Content Wordpress Plugin

by

duplicate content penalty For those who are still too worried about getting penalized for duplicate content, a Wordpress Plugin, DupPrevent is born.

DupPrevent claims to control NOINDEX meta tags and also includes robots.txt file, which prevents search engine spiders on crawling trackbacks, feeds and WP-directories.

But one felt that there’s not much need for this plugin because..

Technically there isn’t a need for that so long as you use redirects.
Anyone that uses mod_rewrite or a redirect php script (such as Scott Yang’s Permalink Redirect) shouldn’t need to worry about Google penalizing their site - just make sure you use 301 (permanent) rather than 302 (temporary) redirects. However, that’s just SEO, you won’t be actually punished for it.

Google only punishes duplicate, non-redirecting content. Anything that redirects is safe.

i havent tried Scott Yang’s Permalink Redirect but it always a good idea to let search engine to only index your home page, posts and pages from your blog. You can also try to minimize the dup contents from the home page by displaying only the summary/excerpt of every posts.
